Sunday and Monday have been declared days of mourning by the Stara Zagora City Hall, after the tragic news that four local teenagers died in a horrific car accident Friday night.

A Turkish bus overturned around 10 pm Friday night falling on a car and killing six people - two Romanian women traveling on the bus, and the four teenagers, who were in the car.

Local rescue units spent ten hours trying to get the six bodies out of the crashed vehicles.

The accident happened on the main road between the cities of Sliven and Stara Zagora, near the village of Hrishteni. Police is currently conducting a second investigation and the road remains closed for traffic.

The four Bulgarian teenagers were all 18-year-old seniors from the Stara Zagora Foreign Language High School "Romain Rolland".

BGNES informs that the 18-year-old driver had a valid driver's license, but only three months practice behind the wheel. He failed to obey a stop sign and the incoming bus hit the "Volkswagen Golf" at full speed. The roads in the area were wet Friday night and visibility low.

The principal of the school, Ivanka Sotirova, told Darik radio that the four have attended classes at the school Friday. They were all 12th grade students in the French language classes of the school. The names are listed as Plamen Todorov, Todor Chernilov, Ivan Etov, and Plamen Petrov. Ironically, the parents of all four were also graduates of the school, according to the principal. Sotirova explained that all four had, just a week ago, taken the exam for obtaining a French high school diploma.

All four boys, reportedly, had drivers' licenses.

A black flag will be dropped over the wall of the municipal building in Stara Zagora at 2:00 pm Sunday and all of the city's churches will simultaneously ring their bells on both Sunday and Monday.

BGNES reports that many of the boys' classmates have gathered at the so-called "Pingvinite" (The Penguins) spot in Stara Zagora, hugging and crying.
