An Italian businessman has cheated over 30 employees of his textile plant in Bulgaria's Sliven by firing them without paying their due salaries, and leaving for Italy.
Roberto Dedoro's employees have not received their salaries since December 2008, Darik Radio reported.
"The total amount of money Roberto Dedoro owes to his employees is BGN 60 000", said Sivo Sivov, the attorney of the affected persons.
He will seek aid form the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Italian Embassy in Bulgaria in order to bring Dedoro back in Bulgaria to pay his debts.
There are issues with the documents regarding the layoffs. They have been sent to Italy to be signed by Dedoro.
Roberto Dedoro has been in the Bulgarian textile business for several years. According to his workers, he has been a loyal employer, and has always paid their wages.
They also said that Dedoro used to send all the production to his sister in Italy, and all the money were transferred to her bank accounts. There was no money in his Bulgarian accounts, the former employees explained to Sivov.
Moreover, the factory machines are useless because Dedoro took the substantial printed-circuit cards with him to Italy.
Sivov also said that the Italian businessman owes money to other companies and people in Sliven. Dedoro has warned his workers that he would not pay to anybody who dared to sue him.
