The residents of Sofia's "Gevgeliyski" distinct gathered once again Monday to protest against the construction of the "Vardar' railroad station in their neighborhood and the cutting down of trees in Sofia's "Zapaden Park" (Western Park), BGNES reported.

The participants in the rally tied up the traditional martenitsa around the trees that have already been cut down and those slated for felling, as a symbol of their "hope that the trees were going to survive and prevail over the arrogant attempts of some functionaries to exterminate the last remnants of nature in the city."

"We will not step back" the representatives of the Initiative Committee have said, adding that they will continue their fight during the week.
