The National Flags of Bulgaria and the United States of America were raised Sunday in New York in front of the historical statue of the bull at Wall Street for third year in a row, Darik Radio reported.
That was a part of the official celebration of the Bulgaria's Liberty Day, March, 3.
Bulgaria's Ambassador in Washington, DC, Latchezar Petkov, greeted all those present, and reminded the historical events that led to the liberation of the Bulgarian nation.
"Today I am most honored to represent that independent, free and truly democratic country, a proud member of the European Union, and of NATO", Ambassador Pekov said.
The Consul General of the Czech Republic in New York, EliЕЎka ЕЅigovГЎ, greeted those present on the part of the Czech EU Council Presidency.
The children choir of the Bulgarian Consulate in New York, a vocal trio headed by Vlada Tomova, and the folklore ensemble "Bosilek" ("Basil") welcomed the guests of the event with songs and dances.
As a part of the tradition everybody joined the traditional Bulgarian folklore dance, "horo", on the square in front of the Bull Statue.
The Bulgarian National Flag will stay raised in New York for a week.
