One of Bulgaria's most traveled roads - between the city of Ruse and the town of Byala is closed due to a fatal crash involving a car and a freight truck, the Head of Emergency Medical Services in Ruse reported for the Darik radio.
The "Ford" automobile had hit an icy spot and spun around crashing with the freight truck despite the truck driver's efforts to steer away. The male driver of the car had died on the spot.
A bus had flipped over due to strong winds in the area of the city of Stara Zagora, near the village of Oryahovitsa. There are no reported casualties. Emergency crews are working to tow the bus and reopen the road.
Numerous snow and ice related traffic accidents and fender-benders are reported from all over the country and the capital Sofia.
