Bulgaria Economy Minister Petar Dimitrov (R) and Nu Image President Avi Lerner (middle) discussed Thursday possibilities to increase investments in movie production in the country.
The President of Nu Image Avi Lerner stated that he had intentions to make the film studio in Sofia's "Boyana" suburb, the top Hollywood studio in Europe, the Bulgarian Economy Ministry press center reported.
Lerner is having a meeting Thursday with the Bulgarian Economy Minister Petar Dimitrov to discuss possibilities to increase investments in movie production in the country.
Lerner is one of the best known movie producers in the world. He was born in Haifa, Israel, but produces mostly American action movies.
Lerner founded two production companies, Nu Image and Millennium Films. Many of the movies he produces are filmed in Bulgaria, where he owns the former State film studio in "Boyana," now called Nu Boyana Film studios.
Nu Image & Millennium Films also bought independent film studio First Look Pictures.
Lerner's CV includes more than 200 movies with top Hollywood stars such as Robert De Niro, Al Pachino, Sylvester Stallone, Morgan Freeman, and Antonio Banderas among many.
