Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is expected to announce unilateral cease-fire Saturday evening, according to a senior Israeli official, BBC reported cited by the Bulgarian information agency BGNES.
The undisclosed source is quoted as saying that it was anticipated the Israel's Cabinet would approve a ceasefire at a meeting, after which Olmert will address the nation.
BBC further informs that the ceasefire deal did not involve Hamas and was not clear how Hamas would respond.
Hamas representatives, reportedly, have said that they would ignore any truce unless their demands are met and insist that any ceasefire must involve Israeli troops withdrawing from Gaza.
