DAY OF BULGARIAN EDUCATION AND CULTURE CELEBRATED

On May 24, Bulgaria marked the Day of Bulgarian Education and Culture and Slav Letters, celebrating the mission of the Sts Cyril and Methodius. A prayer was held at Alexander Nevsky Cathedral for Sts Cyril and Methodius. Students from Sofia schools gathered in front of the National Theatre, where they were greeted by Sofia Mayor Stefan Sofianksi. Afterwards the parade headed to the monument of Sts Cyril and Methodius and was joined by students and professors from Sofia University. The official ceremony, dedicated to the Day of the Bulgarian Education and Culture started at 11 o’clock. President Parvanov delivered a speech.
