Bulgaria Consumer Price Inflation Eases in December

Society | January 13, 2009, Tuesday // 00:00

Bulgarian consumer price inflation dropped to 7.8 percent year-on-year in December, mainly due to a drop in petrol prices, the data of the National Statistical Institute shows.

The consumer price index (CPI) shrank by 0.2 per cent in December, down from a 0.1 percent decrease in the previous month.

However, the government had targeted a harmonised inflation figure of 4.5 per cent for the year and has not officially revised it. For 2009, the socialist-led cabinet targets inflation at 5.8 per cent.
