A Bulgarian sailor died in a fire on the Greek ship Evstatios on Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told the Darik Radio.

The incident took place in the Romanian port of Midia. The fire was most likely caused by a short circuit in the electric installations of the ship.

According to information of the Emergency Situations Inspectorate at the Romanian city of Constanta, the Bulgarian had left the vessel when the fire broke out but had returned later to take money from his berth.

The name of the sailer has not been announced yet. Police information states he was between 40 and 50 of age.
