The sixth edition of the charity campaign "The Bulgarian Christmas. Give hope to a child in need," has collected more than BGN 2.3 M so far for the treatment of sick children, purchase of medical equipment and consumables for children hospitals.

The culmination of the initiative was the traditional concert performance held Thursday evening at the National "Ivan Vazov" Theater. A total of BGN 315,000 has been added to the campaign's account during the show.

The previous five campaigns have raised over BGN 11,5 M, used for the treatment of more than 300 children and the purchase of medical equipment and ambulances for over 76 children hospitals.

This year's campaign is once again held under the initiative and the patronage of the Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov and First Lady Zorka Parvanova.

The Presidential Administration, the Bulgarian National TV and Nova Televizia are the main organizers of the event.

The Bulgarian mobile providers M-Tel, Vivatel and Globul have once again expressed their support to the charity campaign and provided services for donation calls and text messages.

For the first time this year M-Tel joins "The Bulgarian Christmas" with their own campaign by offering, starting December 1, a Christmas charity prepaid phone card - Prima. M-Tel donates BGN 1 to the charity for each purchased or recharged Prima.

The Bulgarian Darik radio, Focus radio, Atlantic radio and the daily newspapers "Trud" (Labor), "24 Chassa" (24 Hours) and "Pari" (Money) are media partners of the event.

Studio "Noble Graphics" is the author of "The Bulgarian Christmas" advertisement campaign while the advertisement clips have been created by SIA Advertising.

The funds will be used to help at least 33 children in urgent need of expensive treatment that is not covered by the Bulgarian Health Ministry and the National Insurance Health Fund.

The children are selected through the letters sent by their parents and with the consultancy of medical experts. Some of those children would be the same ones that the charity has been helping in the last several years.

The campaign ends on January 1.
