Bulgaria's Prime minister Sergey Stanishev, Sofia Mayor Boyko Borisov and Road Infrastructure Agency Director Yanko Yankov opened Tuesday the most expensive highway section in the country.
More than four kilometers, part of the Southern catenary of Sofia's ring-road, could now be used.
A total of BGN 75 M from the state budget has been invested into the construction of the road, which has six lanes (three in each direction), two local-express lanes and two sidewalks.
The building of Dragalevtsi and Simeonovo road junctions has also been completed.
"The construction of a 3-km-long section of the ring-road to reach Kambanite district is to start in February," Sofia mayor announced.
"The capital's municipality has already submitted the project for the northern tangent, which is to complete the ring-road and will ease the traffic on Trakiya and Lyulin highways," he added.
