Thousands of visitors opened officially season 2009 in Bulgaria's Borovets mountain resort on Sunday.

Skiers and snowboarders enjoyed the new four-chair lift Markudzhik 2 as well as the new 1km-long ski-tug with a total capacity of 2400 skiers per hour.

The guests to the Rila mountain's resort took part in a snowbuilding contest and a lottery with awards for the luckiest.

Children from Dragalevtsi's orphanage have been given the opportunity to try skiing for the first time in their lives in the park built especially for youngsters.
